The failure of talks in Brussels/ Kurti: Borrell insisted on the suspension of fines for Serbian license plates

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has reacted after the removal of the proposal for the liberalization of visas for Kosovo from the agenda of this Wednesday’s meeting of the ambassadors of the EU member states. At the start of the government meeting, Kurti stated that the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borrell, unfortunately changed the premise of the November 21 negotiation.
Kurti informed that in the meeting held in Brussels with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, with the mediation of the EU, it was agreed to suspend the second phase of Kosovo’s decision on license plates, when Serbia stops registering “illegal” license plates. According to Kurti, the big goal was removed from the agenda, this after Borrell, contrary to the principle proposed by himself, insisting on the agreement that addresses only measures of good faith, the suspension of fines for license plates.
On November 21, Prime Minister Kurti and President Vucic held separate meetings with Borrell and then joint meetings. However, from the meetings held for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, no agreement was reached. “For reasons that are still unclear to me, absolutely no agreement was reached,” declared Vucic after the meetings.
