The feature film “One of Us,” written and directed by Ergys Meta, achieved three awards at the “Goddess on the Throne” festival in Kosovo. The film secured the awards for “Best Film” and “Best Director,” while the lead actor, Alban Ukaj, was honored with the “Best Actor” award.

The film was financed by the National Center of Cinematography and was produced by the film production company “Era Film.”

At the core of the film’s narrative lies Sula, a former volunteer of the Kosovo war who returns to Albania with the intention of joining law enforcement. Sula grapples with post-traumatic stress disorder due to the war. The central conflict revolves around the extent to which Sula is willing to pursue justice in a city where corruption has deeply infiltrated the upper echelons of power.

This marked the 16th edition of the “Goddess on the Throne” festival, during which films were showcased for three consecutive days, accompanied by various artistic activities, engaging the community of filmmakers and enthusiasts of this art form. The event took place at the renowned cinema “Kino Armata.” The festival included a competition featuring 18 films across the categories of short and feature-length films.

Among the short films, the following were evaluated: Best Film: “Witness”, Film with the best screenplay: “Alikija”, Best actor: Avni Dalipi, “Lullaby”, Best Director: Hamid Yoosefi, “Sphinx”.

The “Goddess on the Throne” award was presented to “Takbir.” In the category of feature films, the accolades were distributed as follows: Best Film: “One of Us”, Outstanding Screenplay: “Forbidden Womanhood”, Best Actor: Alban Ukaj for his role in “One of Us”, Best Director: Ergys Meta for his work on “One of Us”, Best Cinematography: Ariel: Back to Buenos Aires, Goddess on the Throne: “Nguyen”, Lifetime Achievement Award: Xhevat Qorraj.
