The first concert of the Tirana Philharmonic, Veliaj: We give every boy and girl a chance to excel

Tirana Philharmonic held its first concert last night. The concert took place at the National Theater of Opera and Ballet, bringing a rich musical program to the public which included works by authors Franc Schubert, Antonio Vivaldi, Fritz Kreisler, Gabriel Faure, Pugani-Kreisler and Johannes Brahms.

Tirana Philharmonic is conceived by the Municipality of Tirana as an opportunity to engage young artists in the field of music performance in the cultural life of the capital.

In his greeting speech, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj said that this is a new opportunity for the young men and women of the capital, to highlight their talent.

“I am glad that today, through this concert, we have established what will be the Tirana Youth Philharmonic, to make sure that while we have an elite of Opera and Ballet, we prepare another generation, which also performs, that directs the projectors by themselves and their talent, and that we also give a chance to every boy and every girl with an instrument, regardless the city he/she comes from, that Tirana, which is also the European Capital of Youth, should shine, be applauded “and move forward with merit,” said Veliaj.

The mayor said that music has the ability to bring people together, regardless of their political beliefs. The Tirana Philharmonic, supported by the Municipality of Tirana, is a continuation of investment in the field of art, a clear indication that Tirana is becoming a European cultural capital.
