The icon “Holy Friday with 4 saints” is coming to light in the laboratory for the restoration of works of art at the Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage (RDCH)Berat.

RDCH Berat specialists continue the work for the restoration of this cultural heritage property.

This icon was found in the Church of Saint Kolli, in the village of Vanaj in Fier. Saint Kolli is one of the most famous saints for the Western Catholic Church, but also for the Eastern Orthodox Church. The cult of this saint dates back to the century. VI therefore the Albanian lands are not excluded because of the old faith and devotion to Christianity.

Restorations and maintenance of religious icons are getting more and more attention every day. Relevant institutions and maintenance specialists of these icons are doing their restoration to make them worthy to show both the value and the history they carry.

The main goal of the Berat Regional Directorate of National Culture is to take these works of art out of the degradation phase, giving them the opportunity to be exposed to the continuation of a process aimed at preserving and promoting Cultural Heritage.
