The implementation of the Ohrid agreement, the meeting of chief negotiators to hold today in Brussels

The Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, and the head of the Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic, will meet this Tuesday (April 4) in Brussels regarding the implementation of the Ohrid agreement for the normalization of relations between Pristina and Belgrade.

The meeting will be organized at the invitation of the dialogue mediator, Miroslav Lajçak.

This meeting is the first to take place after the one in Ohrid, where Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Alekdandër Vucic reached an agreement on the normalization of relations between the two countries.

Kurti and Vucic agreed on the text of the Agreement for the normalization of relations on February 27.

In the agreement reached between Kosovo and Serbia in Ohrid, North Macedonia, the parties agreed to implement the agreements reached between them, as well as for Kosovo to start preparations to ensure a real level of self-management of the Serbian community, an article that is seen as reference to the Association of Serbian Majority Municipalities.

Another agreement has been reached for the missing persons during the war, while a Joint Monitoring Committee will be established to monitor all points of the annex to the agreement, which will be chaired by the EU.

Although an agreement was not signed, the parties after 12 hours of talks in Ohrid reached an agreement to implement the EU’s proposal for the normalization of relations.
