The Presidency of Kosovo reacted after the decision of the “Serbian List” to abandon all state institutions in Pristina. Blerim Vela from the office of the Presidency of the Republic of Kosovo said that Serbia is forcing and encouraging Serbs to abandon their work in the institutions of Kosovo. He said that such an act is similar to the incitement that Russia made in Donbas in 2014.

Vela said that today’s event shows that the “Serbian List” is used as a tool by the regime of Aleksander Vucic to destabilize Kosovo.

How will the government of Kosovo function now?

The ten deputies of the Serbian List in the Assembly of Kosovo have resigned, as well as the other institutional representatives of the Serbs in the institutions of Kosovo. The Executive Director of the Kosovo Institute for Justice, Ehat Miftaraj, has said that the seats of Serbian deputies remain vacant if they are not filled with candidates who competed in the last elections from this subject.

“The Assembly can continue its work, but what can become an obstacle in the case of the adoption of laws that require the votes of a double 2/3 majority”, said Miftaraj.

“If we refer to the Constitution and the decision of the Constitutional Court for the guaranteed positions, they must necessarily be from the party that won the most votes from the Serbian community.” Miftaraj said that the minister should also be from the Serbian List, while adding that his absence does not disrupt the work of the government.
