Jorgo Papingji, one of the most popular Albanian poets and co-author of many songs, passed away at the age of 81. Unfortunately, he did not manage to overcome the serious illness from which he had been suffering for some time.

Over the years, his poems inspired Albanian composers for numerous creations in the music contests and RTSH Song Festivals, winning many prizes.

Many of them have become hits over the years.

Five of his lyrics belong to the winning songs at the RTSH Song Festival, one of which “One Night’s Anger” also participated in the European Song Festival in 2014.

The balance of Papingji’s creations is about 4000 poems.

In appreciation and respect for his work, Papingji has been decorated with the title “Grand Master” by the President of the Republic.

On Thursday evening, the Assembly observed a minute of silence for the death of the poet and great master of song lyrics, Jorgo Papingji.
