The White House shares the same concerns as the Congress about the tensions in the north of Kosova

The US administration of President Biden has the same concerns as the Congress about the increased tensions in the north of Kosova.

This was reported by the Voice of America, which quoted a spokesperson of the National Security Council, emphasizing the American commitment to reduce tensions in the north of the Republic of Kosova.

“US government officials, including the White House and State Department, have been working closely with European Union partners to find a diplomatic solution to the recent events. They have engaged with the leaders of Serbia and Kosova to promote the extension and renewed focus on the implementation of the normalization agreements signed at the beginning of this year,” said the US Security Council spokesperson.

He underlined that “the normalization of relations, participation in democratic processes and respect for the rule of law will contribute to stability and security in the north of Kosova”.

The comments came after a group of US senators asked the administration of US President Joe Biden to “prioritize addressing the deteriorating security situation between Kosova and Serbia”.

The letter, which contains the signatures of eight Democrate and Republican senators, urges the president to consider military sales if the two sides do not commit to the European Union’s proposal to expand the situation.

Meanwhile, the European Union has warned that it will take a number of measures against Kosova, which will be communicated this week.

They will include the suspension of the funding program for Kosova, the suspension of ongoing support for procurement and contract signing, the suspension of participation in high-level events, the suspension of bilateral visits, and the proposal submitted by Kosova for the investment framework for Western Balkans, not to be processed at this time.
