TIFF Highlights International Co-Productions from Albania and Beyond

The Tirana International Film Festival hit its third day with several screenings. The standout was Luna Park by Albanian director Florenc Papas.
The 101-minute 2024 co-production unites Albania, Italy, Greece, Croatia, and Kosovo.
Papas tells the story of a mother and her teenage son in post-communist Albania. Nik Xhelilaj, Flonja Kodheli, Adriana Matoshi, Suela Bako, Milto Kutali, and Eno Milkani lead the cast. Luna Park screened in the “Special Screening” category at Kinema Millennium.
The FOKUS category honored acclaimed director Runar Runarsson. His 90-minute film When the Light Breaks, a 2024 co-production from Iceland, France, the Netherlands, and Croatia, drew strong attention.
This year, the festival dedicates a special space to Video Art.
Tomorrow, the RetrospecTIFF section will showcase Obsession, a video series by Fani Zguro from 2006–2025, and The Anarchist, works by multiple artists at the “Agimi” Art Center in Tirana.
In Obsession, conceptual artist Fani Zguro presents a nearly two-decade collage of his videos, highlighting his evolving artistic vision.
