Kosova celebrates today the 24th anniversary of the liberation and deployment of NATO troops, ending the war between the KLA and Serbian forces.
The first NATO soldiers to enter Kosova on June 12, 1999 were from the Norwegian special forces and the British Special Air Service, and the United Nations Interim Administration with them.
NATO air campaign against (former) Yugoslavia started on March 24, 1999 and lasted 78 days. The campaign ceased on June 10, 1999, with the adoption of Resolution 1244 of the United Nations Security Council.
After the air campaign, Serbia was forced to end the ethnic cleansing and over 800,000 Kosova Albanians returned to their homeland.
