Trial in The Hague, U.S. Diplomat Begins Testimony Today

TIRANA, November 10 – Trial in The Hague, U.S. Diplomat Begins Testimony Today in Kosova Case

The Special Chambers for Kosova in The Hague resume hearings today in the case against Hashim Thaçi and others.

Earlier sessions were postponed due to the delay of U.S. diplomat Christopher Hill’s testimony. According to the court schedule, Hill will testify from 14:00 to 17:00.

Hearings will continue for the next three days. Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selimi have been held in detention since November 2020. They face charges of alleged war crimes and have pleaded not guilty. The trial began in April 2023.

Veterans of the Kosova Liberation Army continue to oppose the Special Chambers, insisting that Serbian crimes in Kosova should be prosecuted.

They have urged members of the Kosova Assembly to amend the law on the Special Court. However, no agreement has been reached. In August 2015, after a marathon session, lawmakers approved constitutional changes that enabled the court’s establishment.
