Trial of former KLA leaders: Defense for Krasniqi concludes, final statements continue February 18

HAGUE, February 6 – The trial of former KLA leaders continues in The Hague. Today marks the conclusion of the defense statements for Jakup Krasniqi, whose team began the closing argument on Friday.
After Krasniqi’s defense concludes, the prosecution will present its final response. RTSH’s Jonida Omeri, reporting from The Hague, said that February 18 will see the final statements from all four accused, including Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, and Rexhep Selimi.
Following the statements, the judges will deliberate. They have up to three months to issue the final verdict.
The prosecution has requested a total of 180 years in prison, 45 years for each of the four leaders. The defense has asked for acquittals, arguing that no evidence links the accused to the charges. Lawyers stated that the evidence presented does not show that any of the accused ordered the alleged crimes.
This phase marks the final stage for presenting evidence and arguments before the court delivers its decision.
