Trilateral meeting in Brussels, Petkovic: We reached an agreement on the statement on missing persons

The meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Besnik Bislim, the Special Representative of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, and the head of the Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic, ended late on Tuesday afternoon ( April 4), in Brussels.

After the meeting, Petkovic said that they have agreed on the text of the statement on missing persons, which, according to him, will be officially approved in a high-level meeting between the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.

“I would only add that we have been particularly careful about all the terms and that we have not accepted the term mentioned in the international convention on enforced disappearance, because we have taken care not to endanger Serbia’s interests,” said Petkovic.

Petkovic underlined that they have also discussed the formation of the Association with a Serbian majority.

“After so many years, today we discussed for the first time the most concrete steps for the formation of the Association within the tripartite meeting. More precisely, what the management team should do and in accordance with the agreements of 2013 and 2015, it is clear that the first step is the presentation of the charter”, added Petkovic. “We came up with constructive proposals, Pristina has so far refused. The most important thing is to insist peacefully,” he added.

Bilateral meetings were held earlier, where the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, met the Special Representative of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, in Brussels.

Later Lajcak had a meeting with the head of the Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic. The first Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, met in Brussels with the Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhely.
