The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that Kosovo is in the European Union, while she assured that she will support Kosovo in the journey towards European integration. She said that Kosovo has made great progress and dedication in the European journey.
“The country of Kosovo is in the European Union, I am convinced of this, and you are proving this every day. Europe is not complete without Kosovo. The EU is committed to the enlargement process and we will support you as much as we can to join the EU”.

Von der Leyen emphasized that all the conditions for visa liberalization have been met, while she stated that the European Council must be convinced.

“You have met all the standards. It was our assessment that this should be done in July, we have already confirmed that you have met all the criteria. Our task is to convince the entire European Council. You can count on us at the Commission because we will do everything to help you on your journey”.

On the other hand, the president underlined that Kosovo requires support from all EU structures and is determined for its path towards Europe.

“The time has come for the EU to take concrete actions towards the integration of the democratic countries of the Western Balkans into European structures. It is a prerequisite for peace and stability in our country. We know that you are fully committed to the integration of our region and your visit is a proof of that. We must seek support from all EU structures. Despite being the best performer in every democratic index, Kosovo unfortunately continues to be treated with a different standard in terms of visa liberalization. We rank first in Europe and second in the world in terms of reforms in the rule of law”, said Osmani.
