Vardakar: The association should be established, but not as a micro-state

Prime Minister Albin Kurti, in his speech during the joint conference with his Irish counterpart, has stated that he wants Serbia to sign the Brussels Basic Agreement of February 27, 2023 and the Ohrid Implementing Annex of March 18, 2023.
Kurti stated that Serbia violated 8 of 11 articles of the basic agreement, while he asked the European Union to react to the violations.
“We want normal relations with our northern neighbor, Serbia, and normal relations for us are European relations of good neighborliness because this is good for peace, security and the European journey, that is, for integration into the big European family, which also represents our destiny and goal.
On February 27 we agreed on the basic agreement, on March 18 we agreed on the implementation annex.
The problem is that out of 11 articles of the basic agreement, at least 8 have been violated by Serbia. We require legal certainty not only for the implementation of the agreement and compliance with non-infringement. We requested a signature of the agreement.
The normalization of relations means a normal agreement, we insist on signing the agreement. We ask the EU as an arbiter to always react to the smallest violations that can be committed, but unfortunately there are many and they are not small”, stated Kurti.
The Prime Minister of Ireland Leo Vardakar also spoke about the same issue, who said that the Association should be established, but not as a micro-state within Kosovo.
“And I want to see the Association being established, but this should be done in coordination with those areas and I don’t want to see a micro-state being created within Kosovo. This will not be something that would be useful for the future”, said Vardakar.
Regarding the restrictive measures towards Kosovo, the Irish Prime Minister called for them to be removed.
