The Commissioner for Enlargement in the European Union, Oliver Varhelyi, has reacted after the vote in the Assembly of North Macedonia of the French proposal that paves the way for the integration process.

Varhelyi emphasizes that he is looking forward to the opening of membership negotiations with North Macedonia on Tuesday while adding that they will meet in Brussels.

“I welcome the result of today’s vote after the last few days of deliberate discussions in Parliament giving a clear mandate for the Government to start the first IGC based on the French proposal.

We look forward to the opening of accession negotiations with North Macedonia on Tuesday as we meet for the IGC in Brussels. North Macedonia belongs to the EU”, he writes.
