Young people from Kosova receive Albanian citizenship, the coach of Majlinda Kelmendi among them

Four young citizens, three of whom are from Kosova, have sworn in and received Albanian citizenship in a ceremony organized by the Municipality of Tirana.

One of the citizens is Driton Kuka, the Olympic judo champion trainer, who has also produced the World and European judoka Majlinda Kelmendi.

Mayor Erion Veliaj said that Albania and Kosova are seeing their best days, emphasizing the large number of foreigners in the country.

“Today things are not perfect neither in Albania nor in Kosova, but I can say that we are living our best days. After swearing in as Albanian citizens, you will leave this office and you will be in Skanderbeg Square, the square that holds the name of our hero. Today we are living the best days. It’s getting hard to book in the many hotels in Tirana today. We are living our best days when all the world media, thanks to our achievements in sports and music, are talking so well about our country. Sometimes, we forget to talk that much good for our country, but if each of us speaks from his mouth with the same honey tongue that each of the tourists speaks when interviewed on the streets, with love for Albania, we would be even better,” he said.
