105 Years of the National Library Celebrated in Tirana

The National Library of Albania marks today 105 years since its founding.
On July 10, 1920, the country opened a lasting chapter in the history of books, periodicals, and cultural heritage with the creation of its most important cultural institution—the National Library.
The initial collection began with donations. Over time, scholars and intellectuals enriched the library through continuous efforts. Today, the library preserves a significant number of manuscripts, rare incunabula, about 2,900 antiquarian works, maps, and copies of every publication in the Republic of Albania.
On this anniversary, the institution invites the public to reflect on the enduring value of books, reading, study, and the written cultural heritage of Albania.
The National Library also announced a series of events to mark this important occasion.
