105 Years Since the End of the Vlora War

On September 3, 1920, the Vlora War came to an end.
The war consisted of a series of battles fought by Albanian patriots against Italian military forces, which had taken Albania under protectorate on December 9, 1919, following decisions from the Peace Conference.
In protest, the “Vlora National Defense Committee” was formed on January 29, 1920. The attack on the Italian garrison began on June 6, 1920, involving around 20,000 troops. The battles took place in several locations, including the Vlora Bay, Uji i Ftohtë, Vlora-Kanina, Panaja, Llogora, Himara, Selenica, Gjorm, Matohasanaj, and Tepelena.
Fighters came from all regions of Albania, including Albanians from America. They were led by 12 commanders under the overall leadership of Qazim Koculi. In the liberated area of Drashovica, the war headquarters was established with Qazim Kokoshi as prefect.
