2024 declared the year of Lasgush Poradeci

The National Book and Reading Center (QKLL) announced 2024 as the Year of Lasgush Poradeci, commemorating the 125th anniversary of the poet’s birth. Through poetic evenings, conferences, activities in schools and bookstores, as well as meetings with young people, QKLL will bring the figure of the poet who exalted the Albanian language closer to the readers.
The head of the QKLL, Alda Bardhyli, hosted Maria, the daughter of our national poet, Lasgush Poradeci, in the premises of this center. During the meeting, they discussed the extraordinary work Maria had done in clarifying and collecting the poet’s correspondence with well-known personalities of the time such as Skënder Luarasi, Gjergj Bubani, Mitrush Kuteli, Eqrem Çabej, etc.
Part of the Pogradeci archive, these correspondences will soon be published in a dedicated publication under Maria’s care, with the support of the QKLL.
“As time passes, everything comes into place. Big things take a long time to validate. A long time is that time which wallows, makes a monument of the values of our national culture,” writes Lasgush in a letter addressed to Mitrush Kuteli, an expression which Maria remembered during the conversation with the director of the QKLL.
