PM Rama: Work continues on embankment repairs to protect communities

TIRANA, November 26 – Repair work on embankments and key water-management infrastructure continues in flood-risk areas affected by recent heavy rainfall.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared footage from several municipalities, showing teams carrying out reinforcement operations to reduce flood risks. He said irrigation and drainage teams are working in full coordination with Civil Emergency structures, the Armed Forces, and local institutions to protect affected communities.

He highlighted ongoing work along the Devoll, Dunavec, and Kalasa rivers; the drainage canal running through Akërni, Novosela, and Aliban; the repair of the Belit–Metoq bridge; and engineering-unit interventions in Saranda, Finiq, Maliq, Laç, and Bovilla.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party called for a state of emergency, arguing that heavy rainfall flooded agricultural land and caused losses for farmers.
