Albania first place in the Group E on the way to European Championship “Germany 2024”

The national team achieved another historic milestone, securing the top spot in Group E with 15 points after their match against the Faroe Islands at the ‘Air Albania’ stadium.
The red and black national team played against the Faroe Islands’ representative at the ‘National Arena’ Stadium in Tirana, aiming for a result that would secure their position at the top of the group. As previously suggested, Coach Silvinjo made five changes in the starting lineup, including Strakosha in goal, Balliu alongside Ismajl, Gjimshit, and Mitaj in defense, Bare in midfield with Asllan and Bajram, and Uzuni and Daku joining Asan in the attacking lineup from the first minute.
Indeed, the first half was rather tepid, with the opponents defending well. It wasn’t until the 36th minute that Bajrami managed to trouble the second Faroe Islands goalkeeper, Reinatrod, who had replaced Lamhauge early in the match. With seven minutes of added time, Uzuni took a shot inside the box in the 5th minute of added time, but the opposition’s goalkeeper made a save. The ball then found its way to Daku, who was in an offside position. A minute later, Bajrami provided an excellent pass to Dak, yet again resulting in a missed chance, and the first half concluded with no goals scored.
Similarly, the second half unfolded at a subdued pace, possibly marking the weakest performance of the Reds and Blacks in these qualifiers. There were scant clear-cut opportunities to score. Coach Silvinjo intervened by altering the entire attacking department’s formation, yet the right combination proved elusive, impeding the red and black team’s progress toward the goal. As the match reached its final minutes, the Faroe Islands exerted pressure on the red and black defense in attempts to score. However, the final result remained unaltered until the end, concluding in a 0-0 draw.
Albania has now secured the top spot in Group E of these qualifiers with 15 points. Following closely behind is the Czech Republic with 15 points, qualifying as second, while Poland holds the third position with 11 points. Moldova follows with 10 points, and the Faroe Islands trail behind with 2 points.
