“League of Lezha”, 80 children open an exhibition of paintings and old photos in Lezha

About 80 children aged from 5 to 18 years old, not only from Albania and Kosovo, but also from the Albanian-speaking regions of Montenegro and North Macedonia, came together in a painting exhibition.
This exhibition was opened in Lezha as part of the 579th anniversary of the League. The jury headed by the painter Leonard Lesaj awarded prizes to the young creators. In addition to the paintings, old photos testifying to the history of Lezha were also exhibited.
The Albanian principalities from north to south gathered in the Assembly of Lezha, where the most important were Arianitas, Dukagjinas, Balshaj and Topias, while from the Balkan point of view the prince of Montenegro also participated. The Assembly appointed Gjergj Kastriot Skënderbeu commander-in-chief of the League, recognizing his political and military authority.

Since this union, the legendary leader increased the resistance of his army and led the war for 25 consecutive years against the Ottoman occupation. The Assembly realized the great Albanian Covenant, which gave life to the most powerful medieval state of Arber, where the spirit of the Arbers and our national identity was forged.

On the eve of this 579th anniversary, the virtual museum at the memorial of the national hero Gjergj Kastrioti, showed the images of March 2, 1444.

The virtual museum that was organized for the first time within the framework of the Lezha Covenant, attracted the attention of many citizens who closely visited the memorial of Gjergj Kastrioti, seeing and focusing on their mobile phones the images of the Lezha Covenant.

Activities within the framework of the 579th anniversary of the Covenant of Albanian Princes have started since the evening of February 28 and culminated on March 2nd.
