The 600-year-old mosque returns to the community in Prishtina

After 12 years of procrastination, the Çarshi Mosque in Prishtina is finally returning to the community. The interior has been renovated and the murals have been restored.
Interventions were also carried out on the floor of the mosque, where the heating and ventilation were installed. Specialists have also worked in the courtyard of the mosque, restoring the fountain, which is also an asset of Kosovo’s cultural heritage.
Beyond the religious community, this architectural masterpiece is an important asset on Prishtina’s cultural heritage scene.
Finally, the Çarshi Mosque is open to all citizens of Kosovo, as well as foreign tourists. The interventions that enabled its return were carried out within the framework of the joint agreement between the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports, Islamic Community of Kosovo and TIKA.
Çarshi Mosque or Stone Mosque is one of the main objects of cultural heritage in Prishtina. Over 600 years old, the mosque is supposed to have been built around 1393.
