The drama “Osman Taka” premieres at the National Experimental Theatre

“Osman Taka”, a powerful and shocking drama with a philosophical message, written by Arben Iliazi and directed by Naun Shundi,  was premiered on February 11 at the National Experimental Theatre.

The audience was amazed by the performance of well-known actors: Vin Bejleri, Ola Harizaj, Romir Zalla, Neritan Liçaj. The music was by Endri Sina, costume design by Anila Zajmi, choreography by Dion Gjinika and as/director Kristi Serani.

“I would really like to thank everyone, director Naun Shundi said after the show. The actors were all so unified in their acting. I thank the author Arben Iliazi for this fruitful collaboration, the composer Endri Sina, the costume designer Anila Zajmi, the choreographer Dion Gjinika, the actor/director Kristi Serani, and especially the producer Alket Veliu, who has stood by us at every moment. I feel proud that we worked together. It was a very creative collaboration that ensured the success of the show. The whole show has come to where I’m aiming, there’s a stylistic unification with all its elements. For the first time, a theatrical work inspired by the heroes of Chameria comes to the Albanian stage, and for this I feel very excited, said playwright Arben Iliazi.

“In addition to artistic values, this drama adds to our identity values,” said producer Alket Veliu. It is our duty to protect these values. They are an expression of our spiritual wealth. This is the mission of the Çameria Foundation “Hasan Tasin”. The only elements that will keep nations alive are those of identity. The individual separated from his/her living and cultural environment, walks through the mud of anonymity, with a deformed and violated identity. And we as a Cham population are very sensitive to our patriotic and cultural heritage, rare and unrepeatable, which historically they wanted to rob us as they robbed our lands”, he added.

“Osman Taka” is a historical drama, where the author Arben Iliazi has tried to build a strong artistic context, through the well-known figure of Osman Taka.

The play is based on a well-known historical legend, but the events in the work go beyond the legend. The drama is built on such a historical-social background, which creates the possibility to unfold the dramatic complexity, the history of people who carry with them the curse of wars, which lead to bloodshed and chaos, to personal trauma and moral and spiritual deterioration.

The fates of the drama’s characters, their internal problems and dramas, are as human as they are shocking, even tragic, and come across very believable and real on stage.

The drama allows the characters to explain their truth, their drama, their story, their truth, which is troubling them. They even rush to do this as soon as possible, with quite dramatic confrontations.

The drama is a picture not only of pride, but also of passion, with its secret underpinnings and recesses.

This great theater project was realized thanks to the support of producer Alket Veliu, director of the well-known Çamëria Foundation “Hasan Tasin”.
