Two important objects of cultural heritage are being rehabilitated

Two important objects of cultural heritage in Tirana, the Mosaic on the facade of the National Historical Museum and the building of the Institute of Former Political Victims, are being rehabilitated thanks to the EU4Culture Program.
The Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti, and the Ambassador of the European Union, Christiane Hohmann, visited both facilities to see the progress of the works.
Margariti said that the building of the Former Political Persecutors is one of the important sites included in the EU4Culture program and has an early history in the 30s as the Italian Legation.
The EU ambassador, Christiane Hohmann, said that, “the restoration teams, led by UNOPS experts, are doing an amazing job. I can’t wait to see the Mosaic without scaffolding as well as the beautiful architecture of the building of the Former-Politically Persecuted “.
“Through EU4Culture, we are restoring damaged cultural objects in 11 municipalities and we are also supporting local economic development, promoting cultural heritage sites with a high potential for tourism and the country’s wider economy,” she stressed.
Restoration works have been completed at two sites, the Church of Saint Ndou in Rodon, the Church of Redemption in Rubik, and work is also underway at 12 other sites.
