“Eden” exhibition opens in Fier/ The artist Egla Memaj brings 30 works in embroidery

A tribute dedicated to the Albanian ethnographic culture, “Eden” or Earthly Paradise is the solo exhibition of the artist Egla Memaj, which was opened in the Art Gallery, “Vilson Kilica” in Fier. Through hand embroidery techniques that re-evaluates the outstanding liturgical wealth, Memaj brings over 30 artistic works in dialogue with the past, reflecting her identity and artistic journey over the years.
“The entire exhibition is a tribute to Albanian ethnographic values, a call for the re-evaluation of that remarkable liturgical wealth, but also a dialogue with the past. One hall is from the religious cycle, from the epitaph of Gllavenica, which is actually presented and re-presented here. The other room has models from nature, where I have carefully selected flowers, seeds, fruits and trees which are symbolic, historical and religious”, said Egla Memaj, artist.
Her work conveys selected elements of the Albanian cultural heritage, where sometimes the artist exposes the central figure of Christ and sometimes the symbols that surround him.
Presented with her works at home and abroad, “Eden” will remain open for art lovers from Fiera for two weeks at the city’s Art Gallery.
