“Luba”, Armand Bora brings the drama of a love story in the dictatorship

A love story of a Soviet woman with an Albanian during the dictatorship is the subject of the play “Luba” on the stage of the Experimental Theatre. Images on the LED wall, music and body language give pace to the development of events, from the city club to the torture of the investigation.

It is a troubled history that goes back to the years 1961-1970, when the breakdown of relations with the Soviet Union would “target” those who had studied abroad or married foreigners.

The scenography is minimalist, a few hats on a crate, which create the idea of a factory and 5 chairs, from which “Lubaja” chooses Kristian Koroveshi, the actor who resembles her husband Dragush Gjergo, to continue the drama.

Aided by the music in 90 percent of the show, the images on the LED wall, the body language, give pace to the development of the events, from the city club, to the torture of the investigator, the suffering in Spaçi prison, and further shocking moments of the Soviet wife, who in her desperation to meet the beloved of her heart, suffers all forms of violence.
