After many efforts and rapid developments in the artistic community in Kosovo and a great contribution from composers, instrumentalists, solo singers, conductors and many, many personalities, the institution of the Kosovo Opera House is established.

The Assembly of Kosovo approved with 75 votes in favor, the draft-decision of the Government for the establishment of the institution of the Kosovo Opera House as a public service institution.

Among the 75 votes for this institution were also from opposition MPs.

Kosovo is the last country in Europe to create such a structure. With sensational concert activity including concert premieres and Opera compositions from the ’50s, Opera profiles have continued to evolve uninterrupted.

This institution, which has been missing all these years has been a dream and a request of musicians and art lovers who for years have been forced to follow alternative ways to display their operatic art in other scenes, in the absence of the Opera Institution.

The Government of Kosovo has decided to establish the Opera House as one of the main priorities in the governing program and today we congratulate the entire music and artistic community for the creation of this institution of great importance for art in our country.

Opera House is one of the highest structures of interdisciplinary artistic activity, and as such, is one of the most important measures for the development of a country’s culture.
