“Beni Walks on His Own” Opens DPA’s Summer Cinema Season

The General Directorate of Archives (DPA) has launched a new season of its Summer Cinema, part of its initiative to connect young people with Albania’s past.

On Monday evening, June 2, the season opens with one of the country’s most beloved children’s films, ‘Beni ecën vetë’ (Beni Walks on His Own), in honor of International Children’s Day.

Directed by Xhanfise Keko and produced in 1975, the film returns to the screen thanks to ongoing collaboration between the DPA and the Central State Film Archive (AQSHF).

This season, the DPA Summer Cinema focuses on Albanian comedy, while maintaining a clear perspective on the ideological undertones of the country’s communist-era cinema.

Cinema lovers can reserve free tickets at [https://teater.arkiva.gov.al](https://teater.arkiva.gov.al). Admission is open to all.

Featuring iconic lines and subtle humor, the selected films form part of a cinematic heritage that offers both laughter and a glimpse into the times they portray.

The DPA Summer Cinema is a vibrant cultural venue with 140 open-air seats, creating a unique setting where film becomes a dialogue across generations.
