Gjon Mili: Capturing Time Through Light and Motion in Retrospective at Marubi Museum

The National Museum of Photography “Marubi” continues to host “Gjon Mili: Retrospective,” an exhibition celebrating the Albanian-American photographer who transformed motion photography and brought art and science into closer dialogue.
Through bold experiments with light, movement and photographic techniques, Mili challenged traditional ways of seeing images. He captured fleeting moments lasting fractions of a second, turning movement into striking visual compositions.
Sports photography occupies a prominent place in his work. Mili captured athletes mid-stride, spectacular jumps and the energy of the human body in motion, revealing details invisible to the naked eye. His images demonstrate how photography can freeze movement and transform it into a powerful form of artistic expression.
The retrospective invites visitors to explore Mili’s creative world and discover how he pushed the boundaries of photography through experimentation with technology and art.
The exhibition opens daily from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the National Museum of Photography “Marubi.”
