Culture and Tourism Meet in Gjirokastër’s Musical Celebration
The International Classical Music Festival “Gjiroclassica” took place in Gjirokastër for five consecutive nights.
During the festival, young local and international musicians performed on stages set in the stone castle and museum buildings.
Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, said the festival turned Gjirokastër into the heart of a lively musical journey. She highlighted the blend of cobblestone streets, history, the museum area, spirit, and art.
Moreover, Kumbaro praised the talent and virtuosity of the young musicians participating in the ‘Tempo’ competition. She said they promise to continue this tradition in the city.
Kumbaro also thanked all participants for gifting Gjirokastër days full of art and inspiration.
This year, the festival gave special attention to young artists from Albania and abroad.
“Gjiroclassica” offered a wonderful chance to experience these artists up close. It became a celebration that inspires the next generation of Albanian talents.
The festival will close today with a concert by the children’s choir “Okarina” from Kosovo, held in Gjirokastër’s castle.
Cultural and artistic activities are becoming an important part of Gjirokastër’s tourist season. They attract both local and international visitors.
