From Bronx to Queens: Albanian Voice Grows Stronger

New York City Mayor Eric Adams met with representatives of the Albanian community in America. This meeting took place before the Albanian Parade on June 21 in the city.
During his speech, Adams encouraged Albanians to keep strong ties with their homeland. He urged them not to lose their love for Albania.
He said, “You must love Albania more than America.” Furthermore, he shared that his son loves Albania too. He can’t wait to visit and experience the country’s beauty.
“What a day, what a day!” Adams exclaimed. Then, he reflected on the brothers and sisters from Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, and North Macedonia. He said it means a lot to welcome them at Gracie Mansion and to host their parade.
Adams explained that the parade is symbolic in this country. It declares that the Albanian community is part of everything Americans believe in. Moreover, he added, when you march along one of our main boulevards, you proudly show your red and black flag with its important symbol.
He stressed that the parade shows you don’t need to leave your homeland to love your second home, America. You can have both.
According to the mayor, Albanians bring more than culture and work ethic to America. They also contribute to public safety.
He said, “You bring faith, culture, work ethic, and public safety. Men and women not only display your red and black symbol, but also wear the police uniform. They keep us safe every day. I thank them for celebrating with us.”
When asked if the parade could happen, Adams said yes. Then, he promised it would be one of the best parades you will ever see. Currently, over 200,000 strong Albanians live in New York.
Adams noted that the largest number of Albanians in the U.S. lives here. From Little Albania in the Bronx to Little Albania in Queens, you have grown strong. Additionally, your political power is unmatched.
He said, “Thank you for making this city what it is.”
Finally, the mayor said he looks forward to visiting Albania. He wants to enjoy its rivers, seas, mountains, and all the country offers.
