National Heritage Institute Showcases Ancient Mosaic in Lin

The National Institute of Cultural Heritage published footage of the recently uncovered mosaic at the Early Christian Basilica of Lin.

The mosaic is now open to visitors as part of the tourist season. It offers a unique attraction for those who want to experience cultural heritage up close.

On this occasion, the Institute invited everyone to visit the Early Christian Basilica of Lin. This 6th-century monument stands as a valuable testimony to Albanian history and culture.

A Pogradec museum expedition discovered the basilica in 1967. The site includes the nave, two chapels with apses to the north and south, a baptistery, an atrium, and a four-conch chapel.

The entire complex features mosaic floors with geometric, vegetal, and zoomorphic motifs. Religious symbols dominate the decoration.

Experts consider the Lin mosaic the most unique among all religious mosaics found in Albania.
