20th Edition of Chamber Music Festival Celebrates Tradition and Innovation

The International Chamber Music Festival opens today with its 20th jubilee edition at St. Lucia Cathedral in Durrës.

This festival is already known for its high artistic and professional standards. Over the next month, it will present a wide range of chamber music genres.

Mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako, stated that the festival will run until July 21. It will bring a rich musical journey to the heart of the coastal city, inside the historic St. Lucia Cathedral.

Moreover, she highlighted that the event features artists from over 10 countries. Renowned ensembles, new artistic projects, and international collaborations will come together. The festival merges tradition with innovation, offering classical sounds and live emotion.

According to the program, the festival begins with a concert by the Amadeus Trio from Austria. It will close on July 21 with a piano quartet performance by artists from Albania, the United States, and Italy.

The Italo-Albanian Art and Culture Association organizes the event. This association was founded by Durrës-born artists who studied and worked in Italy. Their goal is to encourage collaboration between Albanian and foreign musicians and to promote cultural exchange.

Over the years, they have held many concerts in Durrës, Tirana, and Italy. These performances have consistently offered high-level artistic interpretations to the public.

Importantly, the festival was created to ensure continuity in cultural exchange. It promotes understanding between different traditions by hosting artists from countries such as Italy, Austria, France, Greece, Switzerland, and Kosovo. Through joint performances with Albanian musicians, the event fosters dialogue through music.

Another aim of the festival is to include Albanian artists living and working abroad. It gives them a platform to reconnect with their cultural roots and share their talent on the national stage.
