The Chairman of the Albanian Academy of Sciences, academician Skënder Gjinushi, welcomed Professor Emeritus Brian D. Joseph. He is the co-author of the book The Balkan Languages.

The meeting took place at the Academy before the book presentation. The event was part of a scientific activity titled “The Balkan Languages in a New Dimension.”

The authors, Prof. Emeritus Brian D. Joseph and Prof. Emeritus Victor A. Friedman, have contributed to research for over 25 years. Both are well-known Albanologists and honorary members of the Albanian Academy of Sciences.

Academician Gjinushi thanked Professor Joseph for his tireless academic work and field research. He praised their global contributions to Indo-European and Albanological studies. He also thanked them for choosing the Albanian Academy of Sciences to hold the first book launch.

The meeting included the Academy’s Scientific Secretary, academician Anila Hoda; the Head of the Institute of Language and Literature, academician Valter Memishaj; Associate Professor Aristotel Spiro; and Head of International Relations, Associate Professor Elda Zotaj.
