Egyptian Cultural Week Brings Heritage and Cinema to the Heart of Tirana

From July 8 to 12, Tirana will host the Egyptian Cultural Week. The event aims to present the vibrancy, mysticism, and millennia-old heritage of Egyptian civilization.

The program includes a range of activities: traditional dance, performing arts, authentic cuisine, and contemporary cinema. Each day will offer a new cultural experience, strengthening ties between Albania and Egypt.

The opening event on July 8 will take place at the “Tonin Harapi” Hall of the “Jordan Misja” Artistic High School. The performance will feature Tanoura, a traditional Sufi dance. In this spiritual and visually striking dance, the performer spins continuously in multicolored garments.

This performance will repeat on July 9 in Skanderbeg Square, offering an open-air experience for the public. A third performance will follow on July 10, again at “Tonin Harapi” Hall at 19:00.

On July 11, the Egyptian Food Festival will take place in the entrance hall of the Pyramid, starting at 18:00. Visitors will taste authentic Egyptian dishes, including popular plates like koshari and traditional desserts such as basbousa.

That evening at 21:00, the Egyptian psychological thriller The Blue Elephant will screen at “Reja.” Directed by Marwan Hamed, the film follows a psychiatrist confronting a disturbing past inside a mental hospital, exploring the boundary between reality and illusion.

The week concludes on July 12 at “Reja” with the screening of Diamond Dust at 21:00. The film centers on a pharmacist who seeks revenge after uncovering the brutal murder of his father.

All events will be open to the public free of charge.

The Egyptian Cultural Week is part of the International Cultural Weeks initiative. Supported by the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, the initiative aims to bring Albanian audiences closer to global cultures.
