“Pallati 176” Fills the Summer Cinema at the Archives

The classic comedy Pallati 176 by Adelina Balashi was screened last night at the Summer Cinema of the General Directorate of Archives (DPA).

The audience turnout exceeded all expectations. Despite the play’s long history of showings, interest remains strong.

The screening took place in the courtyard of the DPA. Leading actors Eva Alikaj, Gëzim Rudi, Elida Janushi, and Edon Qesari attended the event. Dozens of citizens and film lovers also joined.

Marinela Ndria, Deputy Director General of DPA, opened the evening. She stressed the importance of honoring Albanian artists.
“These works have stood the test of time,” she said. “In two seasons, we’ve never seen this cinema so full. I thank the entire cast, including those stars now watching from above.”

Actress Elida Janushi praised the DPA for choosing this play for its comedy-themed season.
“I’m glad that after all these years, Pallati 176 still matters to you,” she said.

Eva Alikaj recalled how actor Ilir Bezhani once predicted the play’s success.
“He said it would always fill theatres,” she noted. “He was right. It became a cult classic.”

Edon Qesari, son of the late director Andon Qesari, also spoke.
“This play lives on,” he said. “Creators rarely know the weight of their work. It’s the audience who gives it meaning. This is one of those works that earns immortality.”

The event was held in collaboration with the Central State Film Archive (AQSHF). The DPA’s Summer Cinema, with 140 seats, targets students and young viewers. It combines culture, education, and entertainment.

With its auditorium for training and lectures, and the soon-to-open Archival Museum, DPA continues to offer fresh and engaging cultural experiences.
