Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, expressed sorrow over the death of director Dhimitër Anagnosti.

“It is a sad day for Albanian cinema. We have lost the master of cinematography, ‘Honor of the Nation’ Dhimitër Anagnosti,” Gonxhja wrote on social media.

He highlighted the director’s lifelong dedication to art. In a career spanning more than 40 years, Anagnosti created 14 feature films and 10 documentaries. His works enriched Albania’s cultural heritage.

Among them are unforgettable films that entered the collective memory: Lulëkuqet mbi mure, Komisari i dritës, Plagë të vjetra, Në pyjet me dëborë ka jetë, Nëntori i dytë, Përrallë nga e kaluara, Duel i heshtur, and Në shtëpinë tonë.

“These works gave Albanian cinema its identity and grandeur,” Gonxhja said.

“Farewell, Master!” he concluded.

Dhimitër Anagnosti passed away today at the age of 89, after a long illness.
