Maintenance, restoration and consolidation works have begun in the first category cultural monument building of the church of Shën Mëhill, which is located in Kostar of the Finiq Municipality, part of the maintenance package of the Vlora Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage for the year 2023.

After the design of the project by the Vlora Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage and the approval by the National Council of Material Cultural Heritage, the implementation of the maintenance, restoration and consolidation works consists mainly in the restoration and consolidation of the masonry of the church ruins, the restoration of the cobblestones of the church, consolidation of constructive elements; restoration of decorative elements in masonry, landscaping, etc.

The church of Shën Mëhill is a ruin, which mostly preserves the walls at their former height. From an architectural point of view, it is a small one-nave chapel, rectangular in plan. In the eastern wall there is a small circular apse with an exit to the outside. There is a small niche on the northern wall in the altar area.

Based on the construction characteristics and the archaeological material discovered in the territory of the monument, it is thought that the church dates back to the XII-XIII centuries. The construction of the church is carried by easily worked stones connected with abundant lime mortar were used, while the use of brick fragments, placed between the stones, can also be noticed. The only decorative treatment of the masonry consists of the herringbone frame, realized through the cloisonnage technique. The thickness of the masonry is 60 cm. In most of its perimeter, it maintains its original height.
