Albania and Presheva Valley Sign Historic Cooperation Memorandum in Tirana

A historic memorandum was signed today in Tirana. The deal brings together Albania’s Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation (MEKI) and the Albanian National Council in Serbia.
The Council represents Albanians in the Presheva Valley — including Bujanoc, Preshevë, and Medvegjë. The agreement follows recent official visits to the region. It focuses on sustainable development in culture, economy, and youth.
Minister Blendi Gonxhja signed on behalf of the Albanian government. Enkel Rexhepi signed for the Albanian National Council in Serbia.
“This memorandum strengthens our cultural and economic diplomacy,” said Gonxhja.
“It opens the door to joint policies, programs, and regional initiatives.”
The deal aims to boost shared projects, promote cultural heritage, and develop innovation. It builds strong ties between Albanian institutions and communities across the border.
The signing took place during the Conference of Ambassadors. It adds a new layer to Albania’s diplomacy — rooted in culture, economy, and solidarity. A few days earlier, Gonxhja visited Preshevë. He went at the invitation of Mayor Ardita Sinani, with the full support of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
