Rare Books and Maps Show Albania’s Past at National Library

The National Library of Albania opened an exhibition featuring rare books, maps, and postcards focused on Albania in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The materials come from Montenegro’s National Library “Đurđe Crnojević.”

Visitors can explore rare works such as “Guide to Albania” (Paris, 1930), “The Albanian Language” (Frankfurt, 1835), and “Four Months in Albania” (Berlin, 1916).

The exhibition also includes postcards, many featuring works by Albanian photography pioneer Marubi, and a military map of Shkodra made in Vienna in 1881. Curated by Daniela Radulović, the exhibit is part of Montenegro Cultural Week.

National Library directors Piro Misha (Albania) and Dragica Lompar (Montenegro) attended the opening. The two institutions also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to boost collaboration, share materials, and co-develop cultural projects.

The exhibition remains open through tomorrow.
