Pustec Keeps Alive the Tradition of St. Mary’s Day on Maligrad Island

Every September 21, the people of Pustec gather to celebrate the Feast of St. Mary. They meet at the Church of St. Mary on Maligrad Island to attend mass and honor this important day.
Celebration brought together locals, believers, and visitors from different parts of the world. The tradition has been preserved for generations, making Maligrad a unique meeting place of faith and culture.
The Church of St. Mary is also a major tourist attraction. Built in the 14th century, it carries inscriptions from different historical periods. The earliest dates back to 1345 and is linked to the first phase of fresco decoration.
Today, the church continues to inspire both spiritual devotion and cultural curiosity, blending history, faith, and community in the heart of Prespa.
