TIFF Highlights “Albgreko” in Reflecting Albania Section

The Tirana International Film Festival lit up day three with two documentaries in the Reflecting Albania section. The Agimi Art Center screened Cancel the Law by Fabrizio Bellomo and Albgreko by Ilir Tsouko.

Audiences also packed the Forum Hall at COD today for a second showing of Albgreko. The 27-minute film follows children of Albanian migrants, born and raised in Greece.
They share personal stories that weave Albanian and Greek heritage into a common identity and future.

Director Ilir Tsouko brings his own cross-border journey to the screen. Born in Albania, raised in Athens, and now based in Berlin and Tirana, he explores shifting identities through long-term projects.
Major outlets including The New York Times, The Guardian, Die Zeit Magazin, The Washington Post, ARTE, ZDF, Der Spiegel, Vogue and Polaroid have published his work. His photography has earned awards and exhibitions across Europe and the U.S. Tsouko won the IJ4EU Investigative Journalism award in 2021. Albgreko marks his first solo documentary.

Festival day four opened with children’s films at Kino Pyramid, followed by Panorama TEENs screenings for young audiences. Tonight, TIFF presents Echo by Icelandic director Rúnar Rúnarsson in the Focus category at Agimi Art Center, starting 18:30.
