A new archaeological asset is added to the city of Durrës

The Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti shared today in a post on social networks, the new archaeological discoveries, from the excavations that preceded the opening of the foundations of the “Eftali Koçi” school.
“The excavations revealed the ruins of a wall, where several phases of construction can be seen, starting from the archaic period, a fortification tower of the century. IV-III BC, but also artifacts, such as ceramic vessels, figurines, bricks, tiles, dating from c. V-III BC,” Margariti writes.
The minister added that, “these discoveries led us to the decision to move the foundations of the school, draft a conservation project and open it for the public”.
“This discovery, one of the most important in recent years, sheds light on the division of the ancient city, configuring the urban space and the space with the necropolis, and the sacred space. These data have been sporadic so far,” underlines Margariti.
