PM Rama: New National Theatre to Turn Tirana into a European Art Destination

Tirana, October 15 – Work on the construction of the New National Theatre in the capital continues at a steady pace.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared photos from the construction site on social media, describing the project as an architectural work that will transform Tirana into a European destination for art and contemporary architecture.
He noted that work on the site continues without interruption and that the structure is taking shape day by day.
The New National Theatre, considered a modern architectural landmark, will offer optimal conditions for both actors and audiences. It will also join the ranks of the finest theatres of its kind in Europe.
The project, designed by world-renowned Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, is expected to become one of the most impressive buildings in the region.
The theatre will include several dedicated spaces for performances and artists. It will feature a 750-square-meter auditorium with over 600 seats and a balcony, a 630-square-meter main stage, and two Black Box halls of 200 square meters each.
For artists, it will provide a 200-square-meter dressing room area, a 200-square-meter rehearsal hall, restrooms, showers, and a green room.
The facility will also include a room for musical instruments, storage for stage materials and décor, a technical room, and training spaces. In addition, it will offer full amenities for the public.
