Kumbaro Returns to “Onufri” Art School in Elbasan, Highlights Investment in Art and Education

Minister of Education and Culture Mirela Kumbaro returned to the school where she began her education in art. She visited the “Onufri” Art School in Elbasan after several decades.
The minister was welcomed by Elbasan Mayor Gledian Llatja, school director Ilir Zdrava, teachers, and students. Today, the school serves as a model of modern art education. Kumbaro toured the gym, library, and art studios. She saw the students’ work and the renovations that gave the school a fresh look while keeping its creative spirit.
Mayor Llatja called the visit an important investment in education and art. “Today, ‘Onufri’ is a modern school and our pride. Many talented artists graduated from here. Next year, we will renovate three more schools in Elbasan. Investing in education and children is the most valuable investment,” he said.
A special moment came when Kumbaro met teacher Zana Rroseni. She taught at the school for decades and inspired Kumbaro as a child.
“Teacher Zana inspired me to study foreign languages. She taught me French with love and dedication. She guided me every step. Thanks to her, I chose to continue studying languages,” Kumbaro said.
Kumbaro and the mayor also gave awards to local art and education personalities.
Professor Sopot Serica received an award for “virtuosic performance and the spirit that brought light to the stage and inspired generations in teaching.” Sculptor Vladimir Caridha received an award for “hands that carved art and a spirit that inspired generations of artists.”
The visit ended with a student concert. The young performers brought music to the stage. They showcased the energy of Elbasan’s next generation of artists.
