PM Rama: Fiscal Peace marks new chapter for formalization and economic growth

TIRANA, December 23 – Prime Minister Edi Rama said Fiscal Peace begins a new stage of cooperation. The initiative aims to formalize businesses and boost sustainable economic growth. It also prepares entrepreneurs for European integration.

Today, Rama met with the business community. Economy and Innovation Minister Delina Ibrahimaj and Finance Minister Petrit Malaj joined also the discussion on the Fiscal Package.

Rama recalled that Fiscal Peace was a Socialist Party campaign pledge. It is now law.

He noted that some debates missed the main point. Starting January, the initiative will take effect. Rama said its goal is to build trust between tax authorities and businesses.

Fiscal Peace is not a new idea. Rama explained it dates back to ancient Rome. It has been used for thousands of years.

The initiative allows all law-abiding businesses to register as legitimate taxpayers. Companies can review past fiscal statements. They can self-correct previous declarations. The benefit: a lower profit tax than before.

Rama said each corrected statement will face only a 5 percent tax.

He added that the measure encourages formalization and protects legal integrity. Businesses can focus on their work and challenges without old burdens.

The initiative also addresses old fines. Depending on their age, fines can be fully waived or paid in installments.
