Rama’s New Year Message 2026: No Stopping on Albania’s Path to the EU by 2030

Prime Minister Edi Rama addressed citizens in his New Year message. First, he reviewed Albania’s achievements in 2025 and over the past decade.
Politically, Albania advanced decisively toward the European Union. By the end of 2025, the country opened all EU negotiation chapters. As a result, Albania emerged as a frontrunner in the enlargement process.
Meanwhile, Tirana hosted major European and NATO leaders. These events strengthened Albania’s international standing.
At the same time, citizens at home and abroad supported the government. They delivered a strong mandate of 83 parliamentary seats.
Economically, infrastructure projects connected the country. For example, the Arbër Road linked Dibra more closely to Tirana. Similarly, Vermosh, Theth, and Valbona became key tourist destinations.
Consequently, tourism expanded nationwide. Cities such as Shkodra, Berat, Korça, and Gjirokastra experienced renewal.
In parallel, Albania invested in digital governance. Within three years, the country climbed 54 places globally. It now ranks 14th out of 197 countries in digital government.
Moreover, the e-Albania platform saved citizens €620 million. It also eliminated years of waiting in queues.
Following a major cyberattack, Albania strengthened its cyber defence. Since then, all attempted attacks have failed.
In addition, energy reforms ended chronic power cuts. Renewable production increased. Energy prices fell for households.
As a result, Albania moved closer to full energy independence.
Finally, Prime Minister Rama stressed that this transformation did not happen by chance. Instead, it came from public trust, institutional work, and long-term reforms.
He concluded with a clear message. Albania’s progress is irreversible. The future lies ahead, not behind.
Rama wished all citizens health, peace, and prosperity in 2026.
