PM Rama: 130 snowplows and 800 Albanian Road Authority workers deployed to keep roads open

TIRANA, January 10 – Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Saturday afternoon that severe weather is affecting the country.
As a result, heavy rain and dense snowfall are creating difficulties in several areas.
In response, teams of the Albanian Road Authority are operating across the country. Crews are working without interruption. They are maintaining road axes day and night. At the same time, they are focusing on traffic safety.
Meanwhile, the prime minister urged drivers to show increased caution. He called on them to reduce speed. In addition, he advised the use of winter tires and snow chains. He stressed this especially for mountainous areas, where snowfall is limiting mobility.
According to data from the Albanian Road Authority, 130 snowplows are currently in operation. In parallel, 577 other road maintenance vehicles are deployed. At the same time, 800 workers are securing traffic circulation. Authorities are also using 5,300 tons of salt and 1,800 tons of grit.
Where conditions require action, these vehicles and workers intervene directly. Their objective is to normalize the situation. Consequently, traffic flow and public safety remain ensured nationwide.
Rama said operations will continue without interruption. Work will proceed until the situation fully stabilizes.
